Weeeeeeeeeeeeee’re BACK!

back online

Whew, what did we miss?!  It’s been a quiet 15 months since we signed off the air, hasn’t it?

We found this AMAZING online radio platform based out of France called Radionomy that is LEGAL, does all our logging for us, collects ALL royalties and distributes them for us to ensure creators and copyright holders GET PAID, and perhaps with a few ads inserted per hour we can make a small stipend…enough to make it worthwhile bringing you ‘music without boundaries’…worth it?  We think so…

We’re in ‘test mode’ at the moment, bringing you some fantastic mixed music heard NOWHERE else.  We’re presently lining up hosts and shows to come back in a big way in the upcoming months, so stay tuned for more great news.

In the meantime, check out our player below to grab an earful of the best deep tracks, past hits and indid music from around the world…

Thanks for the memories…RTDS is off air for the foreseeable future…

we're closedDue to impending royalty rate hikes for the period 2016-2021, we have been forced to shut down.  We are a minor non-interactive music discovery service/internet radio service, and are being forced to pay the same rates as some of the largest internet streaming services.  They have millions of subscribers who pay $10 per month.  This is not, at the moment, a valid business model for us.  We feature quite a lot of new independent music, as well as lesser known tracks from more established artists. We do this because we want to be a valid destination for people with discriminating taste, and we want to give these artists a place to feature their music, as we all know terrestrial music rarely features new unsigned music.

We are NOT against artists being paid for their creative works, as many of us that work at RTDS are recording artists as well.  We ARE for a fair and balanced system that pays creators but also reflects the realities of the many micro and small broadcasters that are presenting options that are NOT hit based radio.

We will be silent until we can find a way to find funding to pay these increased royalties, or until the system is re-evaluated.

If you want more information on the consequences of removing choice, Live365.com closed its doors this week, as they had thousands of stations that would be affected by these new royalties.  Many of these stations are small broadcasters who feature many types of music NOT featured on traditional radio and will now go silent.  Far few choices to listen to…very sad.

Blog – #Vinyl Revenue Higher Than Online Streaming

vinyl-record-playerBlog – #Vinyl Revenue Higher Than Online Streaming

In my latest ‪#‎blog‬ post, I look at the ‪#‎vinyl‬ resurgence and why artists, even indie artists, really should think about adding vinyl to their product release strategy. And we talk hard numbers, not fanciful thinking…vinyl is growing faster than THREE streaming services COMBINED, so perhaps it’s time to get some vinyl pressed!

So, who honestly saw THIS coming?  That in 2015 artists would see MORE revenue from vinyl sales than the combined income from THREE major streaming portals?  Whaaaaat year is it again, and what does it mean for artists?

What it means is that you *should* diversify your media delivery to include vinyl records.  Why?  For more reasons than you might know.

What market other than vinyl can you say is growing so rapidly in the music industry?  With purchases of Vinyl up 52 percent from this time last year, no other format is growing at such a rapid rate.  So, it’s becoming harder and harder to ignore that vinyl, for the time being and foreseeable future, should factor into your product release strategy.  From the article:

“In a pop-culture world dominated by streaming and pick-and-choose musical singles, it is interesting to see long form records making such a strong comeback, pointing to what some might consider to be a larger cultural shift.

The modern music consumer, when purchasing physical music, seems to prefer the larger images, exclusive content, and often free digital downloads that come with a vinyl buy. More and more bands are printing special singles, colored vinyl, and other cool content for analog fans.”
