The Blues Journey is a brand-new radio show here on Radio That Doesn’t Suck, hosted by Greg Gaughan, aka Greg G.
I got the radio broadcasting bug after seeing Wolfman Jack do his radio show “live” at WNBC in 1974 during an 8th grade class trip to New York City.
Throughout the years, I’ve worked in the music business as a music journalist, music photographer artist management, radio promotion, radio station manager, and ‘live house’ booking manager.
My radio career started in 2002 when I joined the broadcasting staff at the non-commercial station, WBZC-88.9FM, at Burlington County College in New Jersey. I was sharing the airwaves with current RTDS DJ’s Gene Godfrey and Michael Tearson. Gene Godfrey was one of my key mentors. For a few months, I did a mid-day air shift every Thursday until I was given the opportunity to do a specialty show on Wednesday nights. Starting in May 2003 until January 2018, I entertained our listeners with a wide variety of Roots-Rock and Americana music on my Roots Rock Review show.
During this time, beginning in March 2007 until March 2010, I took the position of radio station manager at the non-commercial WDBK-91.5FM, Camden County College’s radio station in Blackwood, New Jersey (my alma mater). This position gave me the opportunity to pay-it-forward and help mentor others.
In January 2018, when it was announced that the FM broadcast license for WBZC would be sold and the radio station would be switching to an internet-based radio station (RCBC), that I decided, after almost 15 years, to put my Roots Rock Review show out to pasture, and start my new radio show, RCBC Blues.
Unfortunately, in June of this year, I received word that the powers-that-be at RCBC (Rowan College at Burlington County) decided they didn’t need the internet radio station any longer, and it went silent at the end of June.
I am excited to be a part of the broadcast family here at Radio That Doesn’t Suck.
The Blues Journey airs Saturday at 9am, 3pm, 9am and 3am Sunday, Eastern Standard Time and always on demand here at Radio That Doesn’t Suck.
